Step 1: Membership and Commitmen
- Join the Group: Men from the Tucson area come together with a commitment to help their community. Each member pledges to donate $100 at each of our quarterly meetings.
- Annual Commitment: This totals $400 annually per member, directly contributing to local charities.
Step 2: Nominating Charities
- Member Nominations: Ahead of each quarterly meeting, members are invited to nominate local charities they are passionate about. Each charity must meet specific eligibility criteria to ensure contributions make the most significant possible impact.
- Submission Deadline: Nominations must be submitted at least two weeks before the next scheduled meeting to allow sufficient time for vetting.
Step 3: Vetting Process
- Eligibility Check: Nominated charities undergo a vetting process to verify their 501(c)(3) status, local impact, financial transparency, and compliance with non-discriminatory practices.
- Approval: Once approved, charities are added to the “hat” from which the finalists are drawn.
Step 4: Drawing and Presenting
- Random Draw: During the quarterly meeting, three charities are randomly selected from the “hat” of approved nominations.
- Presentations: Members who nominated the drawn charities have the opportunity to present a brief overview of the charity’s mission and needs to the group, advocating for why they should receive the donation.
Step 5: Voting and Selection
- Member Voting: After all presentations, members vote to select one of the three charities to receive that quarter’s collective donation.
- Majority Wins: The charity with the majority of votes receives the pooled donations from all members present at the meeting.
Step 6: Donation and Impact
- Immediate Donation: The winning charity receives the collective donation immediately after the vote, often totaling a significant sum when all members’ contributions are combined.
- Transparency and Follow-Up: Members receive updates on how their donations are used and the impact they have had in the community.
Step 7: Ongoing Participation
- Continuous Engagement: Members are encouraged to remain engaged by attending meetings, participating in community events, and continuing to nominate and support new charities.
- Eligibility Reset: Charities that win are eligible to be nominated again after 18 months, ensuring a wide distribution of support to various causes.
